A NAIL technician from Southampton was delighted to see her dramatic, if somewhat impractical, creations on the catwalk at London Fashion Week.

Kathryn Jones, a nail, beauty and aesthetics practitioner from Purrfect Nails Beauty in Bitterne, Southampton was approached by a fellow nail tech Suzanne Stewart Clayton to join at team of eight other nail techs to see if I could produce four sets of nails for the designer Pierre Garroudi.

Daily Echo:

"I immediately said yes and got to work creating and designing," says Kathryn.

"I spent two days at London fashion work where my nail work appeared on the designer Pierrre Garroudi's models' nails.

"The brief that was given was to think out of the box. He didn’t want the traditional gel nail polish. He wanted things adhered to the nail, items that would stand out and catch the audiences attention so as to complete his quirky and random clothing designs.

Daily Echo:

"I designed four sets over three weeks and all four sets were chosen.

"I also helped with the nails at another show in Tottenham Court at the Congress Centre. Behind the scenes we painted the models nails in a series of nudes to compliment the designers work."

Kathryn adds that the experience has been a career high.

"I have never done anything like this before in my whole 17 years that I’ve been in the industry, so to be a part of such a huge and iconic event in London at LFW has been a absolutely amazing," she adds.

"Who knew little old Kathryn from Bitterne would have her nail creations on a London runway. Definitely a career high."
