SOLENT University are offering marathon competitors the chance to 'Meet the Experts' today, ahead of the ABP Southampton Marathon.

Guests will be able to hear from industry and academic professionals who will share tips to help prepare for all races

This will include nutritional tips, and advice on how to enhance performance and help reduce the likelihood of injuries.

Solent University are the official education partner for the ABP Southampton Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k, and the event, which starts at 5pm, will consist of various interactive sessions, three short workshops, and an opportunity for partners and participants to connect with each other.

Mike Toy, stakeholder engagement leader at Solent University, said: "As the official education partner of the ABP Southampton Marathon we’re delighted to be offering participants the opportunity to pick up some useful tips and advice ahead of the big day in May.

"The University offers students a variety of opportunities to get involved with sport and live a healthy, active lifestyle, so it is fitting for us to offer the same opportunity to the local community."

Nikki Rees, managing director of the ABP Southampton Marathon, said: "We are really excited to have Solent University on board again as our official education partner.

"The Meet the Experts event at Solent is an important one for new long-distance runners leading up the big race.

"It is a great way for runners to familiarise themselves with our supporting partners and allows them to sit down with industry professionals to learn more and ask questions to guarantee them a successful race."

The ABP Southampton Marathon takes place on May 5, and will feature a 10k, half marathon, full marathon and a children's fun run.

All races will start and finish in the city centre, with the course taking participants through local landmarks such as the Bargate, Itchen Bridge, Weston Shore, Riverside Park and the Common, before finishing by the Guildhall.
