A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in Eastleigh this morning.

Police were called to Woodside Avenue, Eastleigh, at 5.44am following a report of two vehicles colliding with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 23-year-old man from Chandler's Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene, and his next of kin have been informed.

A 26-year-old man from Eastleigh, who police say was not a driver or passenger in either vehicle, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The drivers of the vehicles – a black Vauxhall Astra and a blue Renault Megane – are helping officers with the investigation.

Police remain at the scene carrying out enquiries.

Woodside Avenue was closed near the junction of Broadlands Avenue for about nine hours following the incident.
