HEDGE End residents are being urged to be alert after burglaries in the area.

Police have issued the appeal to residents to keep their homes and belongings secure following the incidents, which happened overnight on Saturday into Sunday.

Two men entered a garage in Billington Gardens at about 1.20am on Sunday but both left without taking anything.

Residents of one home on Wellstead Way discovered on Sunday morning that a coat was stolen from their car, which was left unlocked.

A watch was also stolen from a car which was parked on Malvern Gardens in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A police statement says: "Keep your car locked and remove all valuable property from your car, including any bags and coats. Pull your car handle to check it’s locked.

"Thieves have and will, break into cars for bags and coats, due to the possibility they may contain valuables. Thieves are also searching unlocked vehicles for anything including chargers, loose coins, sunglasses and keys.

"Did you see or hear anything or anyone? Do you have any private CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist us?"
