FOUR men have been charged with the murder of a Southampton man.

It comes after police named Southampton man Luciano Dos Santos as the man who died after he was hit by a car and stabbed in Oxford on Wednesday last week.

Police launched an attempted murder investigation, which was escalated to a murder investigation after the 22-year-old's death.

Now Thames Valley Police say they have arrested four men.

Michael Yemane, aged 20, of South Bridge Row, Oxford, Welid Solomon, aged 25, of Field Avenue, Oxford, Sasan Mohammed Khalid, aged 19, of no fixed abode and Safeen Abdullah Karimi, aged 27, of Hode Garth, Thame, have all been arrested on suspicion of murder.

All four appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court shortly after 10am on Saturday and were remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Crown Court today (Monday, March 11).

Mr Dos Santos’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Southfield Road, off Cowley Road, was cordoned off after the stabbing, which happened at about 11.20pm.

Police set up a tent at the junction with Warneford Road, as forensics combed the scene.

Mr Dos Santos was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington following the attack, but did not survive his injuries.
