MORE than 1,000 competitors from 95 teams flocked to Southampton Sports Centre.
The sporty youngsters got together on March 1, 1999, for the eighth Open Home James Netball Tournament which was raising money for Comic Relief.
Even organiser Chris Granger told the Echo at the time: “The day turned out perfectly, we couldn’t believe it.”
The tournament was played in group stages and progressed to a play-off stage, each match being played for five minutes each way.
