IT IS the Southampton pub that has been taken over by a new manager.

The Rockstone in Onslow Road, has recently been taken over by Daniel Mcglone, 32.

Daniel, who previously managed a pub in Chelmsford for eight years began working at the pub in January and said that his time at the public house has been "brilliant so far."

18 members of staff currently work at the watering hole and Daniel said: "The staff here are great, and the majority of them have worked here for a long time.

"It's like a family here, everyone gets on so well."

The pub have fortnightly specials on the menu and they also do themed menus throughout the year.

Daniel said:"Our unique selling point is our big burgers.

"We also use all locally sourced food.

"I don't think I'd eat a burger anywhere else since having a burger at The Rockstone."

The public house also have a variety of offers including two selected burgers for £22 on a Monday, 30% off for students on a Wednesday and 10% for those working for a public service.

Daniel said: "We are going to run a cider and gin festival this year and we also have been thinking about introducing live music.

"At last year's gin festival there were 87 different types of gin on offer."

When asked about what changes he has made since taking over Daniel said: "I haven't implemented any real changes since taking over but this place runs like a well oiled machine.

"The previous management have done a great job and we get a real variety of different customers which is great."

Sammy Gregan, 30, head chef who has worked at The Rockstone for five years said: "I like that this is an independent pub as we get the freedom to contribute and put in ideas."
