THE hunt is on for a driver who struck a pedestrian in a suspected hit-and-run incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 50s was left with "severe bruising" following an incident in Hythe shortly after 9.30am on Tuesday.

Hampshire police said the woman was walking along Fulmar Drive in the direction of Frost Road when the collision took place.

According to the police, the car, described as either black or dark blue with large wheels and a loud exhaust, drove off from the scene.

In a statement the force said: "We are appealing for witnesses to a fail to stop collision in Hythe which resulted in a pedestrian being injured.Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that can help us identify the driver of the vehicle involved.
