ON READING more and more of air quality in Southampton, and health problems in young children especially, I would suggest banning pushchairs as the children and babies in them are in the "firing line" of exhaust fumes when parents are waiting to cross the road.

When I was a child, us kids were in proper prams way above the height of exhaust fumes. It's only in recent years we have heard that more and more babies and children are suffering from asthma- related illnesses. Not so when I was young.

Just a thought.
