FIREFIGHTERS urged members of the public to avoid St Mary's while they tackled a huge blaze in Southampton.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service put out the warning on social media following the fire, which broke out on Tuesday afternoon.
More than 50 firefighters were at the scene.
The A33 Kingsway and St Mary's Street were closed, although Kingsway has now reopened.
Bluestar buses said its services were being diverted as a result and could not stop on Kingsway.
