AUDITIONS are now open for one of Eastleigh’s biggest summer events.
The Eastleigh and Southampton Asian Community (ESAC) are inviting people to apply for ‘Britain’s Asian Got Talent’.
Applicants are in with a chance to win a slot on the main stage of Eastleigh Mela 2019 and perform on Unity 101 community radio station.
Those interested in entering the competition should send video footage demonstrating their talent to ESAC before July 1.
According to ESAC volunteer, Rajan Jolly the invitation is open to all members of the Asian community, from dancers to singers and even magicians.
A shortlist of 10 acts will then drawn up to perform at a Bollywood talent evening on July 12 on the outdoor stage near The Point in Eastleigh.
Whoever is voted the best act will go on to perform at this years Eastleigh Mela on July 21.
Rajan said: “We want to make it fun so people can enjoy the event. We want to bring people together. To show them the culture and a fun day out.”
Mela is the Sanskrit word for ‘meeting, fair and celebrations of all kinds’.
Thousands are expected to flock to Leigh Road Recreation Ground on July 21 to take part in this year’s Mela festival.
It will fill the town centre with a fusion of music, dance and family activities, all of an international flavour.
