GREAT news! With the reopening of Kentish Road Centre, carers will get the rest they deserve and adults with a learning disability will get an enjoyable break.
With so much frustration with politics around at present, it is pleasing that bad decisions by politicians can be reversed. Thanks must go to Lisa Stead and Amanda Guest for their stamina in keeping this issue before the city.
Thanks are also due to the Echo for its coverage and to an army of determined carers who attended countless meetings to keep the pressure applied to council officers and members. The support of the general public and the ombudsman were crucial.
Let us hope lessons have been learnt and councillors will fully consult users of services before blindly accepting the views of council officials!
