WHY do you deserve a share of £10,000?
That was the question posed by the Daily Echo and Ocean FM when, in 1999, they spent two weeks on the hunt to find deserved winners whom had novel answers.
Contestants either filled in a blank cheque printed in the Echo and sent that in, or they telephoned Ocean FM.
Little Hannah Kennedy, seven, from Hedge End, was given £375 for a new bedroom after her mother Corrine entered the competition.
Former secretary Valerie Penney was able to build on her computer skills after her husband, John, won a cool £1,000 for a new computer.
Romantic Hayley Stock, from Eastleigh, scooped £900 for a passionate holiday in Paris with her boyfriend Graham Haynes.
Graham Titcombe of Woolston and his family also jetted off. They went to visit family in Canada after netting a whopping £1,700.
Di Dilly from Totton used her £350 win to take her children and their granny to London
The winners were pictured with Ocean FM DJ Spencer Kelly who presented their prizes.
