With Easter celebrations just around the corner retailer, Hotel Chocolat are selling an Easter egg for £80. We asked readers if they would be prepared to spend that much on loved ones.
Lorraine Tavernor, a 54-year-old bar manager from Totton, said: "I would not spend £80. Definitely not. It's just a waste. You're only going to eat it. You would not spend that much on a meal let alone and egg. I would spend about £10. I only go to supermarkets."
Leonard Hughes, a 71-year-old retired psychiatric nurse from Southampton, said: "I would not spend that much because it is a ridiculous price. I can think of plenty of better things to spend money on than an Easter egg. I would spend a couple of quid. My wife just spent £4.50 for two eggs."
Sam Kaine, a 36-year-old self-employed furniture seller, said: "Hell no! I am lactose intolerant. It's an indulgence and a waste of money. Birthday cakes cost that much. and feed lots of people. I don't think I love anyone enough to spend that much. I would spend £15."
Emily Jeffery, a 31-year-old teacher from Southampton, said: "Not a chance. There are better things to spend your money on. £80 goes a long way. I would never spend it on chocolate. I would be willing to spend £5 on a loved on. I do not really celebrate Easter."
