A STUBBORN donkey needed a bit of a helping hand as it stole the show at Winchester's annual palm Sunday procession.
The donkey, named Mr Jolly, refused to go down the stairs at the Cathedral and instead need guiding to a ramp to get into the building.
But even then the donkey needed a push and a bit of encouragement to get inside to take part in the annual service.
Hundreds of people took part in the annual procession in the city.
The event marks the day that Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem on the back of a donkey, before his execution on Good Friday.
The procession, including the cathedral choristers, started from the Great Hall before amid sunshine, winding its way down the High Street and Market Street to the cathedral.
Winchester mayor Frank Pearson and Dean of Winchester the Very Reverend Catherine Ogle took part in the event
