A BISHOP’S Waltham man died from multiple organ failure after surgery, Winchester Coroner’s Court heard.
David John Beale, 83, of Northfield Close, was admitted to Southampton General Hospital on April 6 with a broken leg, which was operated on the following day.
He died at the hospital on April 9.
Hospital doctor Alistair Phillips gave a preliminary cause of death of multiple organ failure following lower respiratory failure.
Mr Beale had type-two diabetes and chronic pancreatitis, which are thought to have been contributing factors.
Senior coroner Grahame Short adjourned the inquest to August 29.
