AN INFORMATION event about the multimillion-pound work to transform a busy roundabout in Southampton is to be held this month.

Road-users who will face more months of traffic misery through work to improve Redbridge Roundabout are being encouraged to take part in a public information event.

It is to be held at Redbridge Primary School, Studland Road, on April 26 from 4pm to 7pm and April 27 from 10am to 4pm.

The meeting will allow residents and regular road users to ask questions about the scheme, see the final design and understand how the project will be built.

Work to improve Redbridge Roundabout is due to start on May 1 and is expected to run until spring next year.

The Redbridge scheme comes after a six-month project to improve the nearby Millbrook Roundabout finished on April 7.

The scheme, set to cost between £8.5 million and £15.5 million, will add an extra lane to ease congestion for vehicles travelling from the motorway to the city centre and the port.

The crossings on Redbridge Road will be upgraded and the existing footbridge will be replaced to make it possible for both pedestrians and cyclists to cross.

A shared-use path will be built on the southern side of the roundabout.

The scheme will also see improvements made to the subway by Gover Road, while the subway at the southern edge of the roundabout will be shut.
