FESTIVAL charity partner Child Bereavement UK is looking for volunteers who can’t get enough of the ’80s to volunteer at Let’s Rock Southampton this summer.

The annual retro shindig on Southampton Common will take place on Saturday, July 6, and include appearances from R&B hit-maker Billy Ocean, Andy Bell – lead singer of synth pop duo Erasure – soul favourites Shalamar and new-wave favourite Marc Almond. Heaven Is A Place On Earth singer Belinda Carlisle will also return after her hit-packed set proved a big draw at last year’s event.

Charity bosses are encouraging volunteers to help top the £70,000 they collected at Let’s Rock events in 2018.

By signing up to do a four-hour Child Bereavement UK shift selling wristbands and raffle tickets, volunteers can help a great cause and enjoy the event free of

Lorna Murchie, regional fundraising and communications manager, said: “Last year we raised over £70,000 at Let’s Rock festivals across the UK and we couldn’t have done this without the support of our wonderful volunteers. The atmosphere on the day is brilliant and our volunteers really do enjoy themselves.

Child Bereavement UK supports families when a baby or child dies or is dying, and when a child faces bereavement.

The charity also trains doctors, teachers and midwives to help them better understand and meet the needs of grieving families.
