After climate change activists took their protests to the roof of a train, with one man gluing himself to it, we asked people if they thought their actions would help.

Jamie Beeson, 40, senior property manager, of Andover Road, Winchester, said: "Climate change needs more media exposure, but is it right to bring cities to a hold? That's not fair on other people, but I do believe action is needed."

Sam Allen, 28, food courier, of Avington, said: "I guess they felt it was the only way to get the message out there. But it's not right and there are other ways. The programme Our Planet is a good example."

Jane Dalgleish, 55, retired cabin crew, of Oliver's Battery Road, Winchester, said: "Someone has to get the message out there. I mean, it's a bit extreme but measures need to be taken, and soon. I wouldn't have the courage to glue myself to a train."

Michael Cain, 57, full time professional landlord, of York Road, Eastleigh, said: "It's no good because all protestors are now portrayed in a bad light. But it is a serious topic. I use an electric car. It's all about doing our own bit to help – not by climbing on trains."
