A MAN has died after an assault outside a Southampton pub.

Perry Cardy, 52, suffered life-threatening injuries during the incident, outside the Bittern in Thornhill Park Road on Friday night.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

However, police say Mr Cardy died in hospital today.

Hampshire Constabulary are appealing for information.

Detective Inspector Lee Macarthur from the force's Major Crime team said: "We want to hear from you if you were in the Bittern Public House at around 9.50pm on Friday, April 19?

"You can either call us on 101 or use the link below to directly submit information to the investigation team.

"Any information you have may be relevant, no matter how insignificant it may appear to be.

"If you have any video footage or pictures then please upload them using the link".

Police say two men, aged 27 and 39, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The 27-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder and the 39-year-old has been arrested on conspiracy to murder.
