A WOMAN has been given a suspended sentence after a racially aggravated assault.
Taniqua Channin Smith, 31, admitted the assault, which took place in Southampton in December.
Smith also pleaded guilty to using threatening and abusive language towards the same victim during the incident, which was said to have taken place while Smith was under the influence of alcohol.
She also admitted two counts of theft from Co-Op in Southampton, one of which took place on the same day as the assault.
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates’ Court, Smith was given a 12 week prison sentence, which was suspended for 12 months.
Smith, of Bugle Street, also made the subject of a 12 month restraining order, banning her from the Co-Op store in Southampton High Street, and ordered to pay compensation of £100.
