ARCHIE was born prematurely, suffered a bleed on the brain, and has cerebral palsy – but his family want to transform his future.

The seven-year-old has lived with a number of different medical conditions and spent months in hospital.

In order to help create a better future for him, his mum Stephanie, from West End, has organised a fundraising fun day at Romsey football club on April 27.

Archie was born prematurely at just 26 weeks old and after suffering a brain bleed was forced to live in hospital for three months.

Stephanie said: “He had a very tough time during his three months in hospital with major surgery , a bleed on the brain and after numerous problems eventually he came home after 113 long days.

“At three years old Archie got sent for a brain MRI scan and this confirmed that he suffered brain damage from his bleed on the brain and that he had Cerebral palsy. “

"Archie's muscles are tight and this effects the way he walks, as well as his balance.”

Archie is set to have an operation at Great Ormond Street hospital at the end of the year where he will have nerve fibres in his spine cut.

Stephanie said: "He won’t be able to walk and he will need to retrain his brain and body.

“He will need physiotherapy and hydrotherapy intensively for at leat two years and this costs around £500 a week.”

Stephanie and her husband Chris have already raised £27,000 through fun days, bingo nights and other fundraising activities, but the family are looking to raise as much as possible before Archie’s operation at the end of the year.

Stephanie said: “Archie just wants to be a normal seven year old and walk up and down the stairs without worrying he will fall over.

“He has not had a great start in life, but if we can change his future then that will be fantastic. It will be a really lovely family day.”

The event will take place from 11am until 6pm and guests will be able to enjoy face painting, a BBQ, football, market stalls, games, a bouncy slide and there will also be a DJ.
