A CARE home has been awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) - placing it among the top 3 per cent of care homes in England.

Staff at Knights’ Grove Bupa Care Home, in North Baddesley, were praised for providing "outstanding care and support" and going the "extra mile" to ensure people continued to live fulfilling, happy lives.

The report found that staff took great pride in creating an atmosphere that welcomed people and promoted their independence while respecting their privacy and dignity.

General Manager at Bupa Knights’ Grove, Danni Davies, said: “We could not have asked for a better outcome.

"It’s a testament to the effort of everyone involved.

"Not just the management team, but the carers, the cleaners and the chefs. Everyone has done an exceptional job.

"We strive to make our residents feel as welcome as possible from the moment they step through the door and this report reflects our ethos here.

"Everyone cares for one another very much. It goes beyond resident and carer - we are a family.”

Staff had detailed knowledge of each individual’s life history including likes, dislikes, life achievements, religious beliefs and hobbies which enabled them to personalise care and meet people’s individual needs.

Joan Elliott, Managing Director for Bupa Care Services, said, "Knights’ Grove is a fantastic care home where everyone works together brilliantly.

"The staff really get to know and care for their residents and are always looking for new ways to improve their care and quality of life, which means residents have the best experience possible.

"I’m delighted they have been recognised with this ‘outstanding’ rating, it’s so well deserved”.

The news follows announcement that Northlands House Bupa Care Home, on Westrow Road, Southampton has been rated "good" grading well in all categories when judged by CQC.

In its summary, the CQC said that, “We saw caring and compassionate relationships between staff and the people they supported.”
