A SOUTHAMPTON woman is set donate her hair to make wigs for children with cancer who are facing hair loss.

Sema Hussain, a health visitor working with children who are receiving cancer treatment, is to cut off her “one-metre-long hair” to donate it to the Little Princess Trust, who will use the hair to make long wigs for girls and boys facing hair loss.

Sema will be having her hair cut off tomorrow at 2.45pm at the Adelaide Health Centre, Millbrook.

A spokesperson from the Little Princess Trust said: “We are hugely grateful to Sema for choosing to support The Little Princess Trust - but this is no ordinary hair donation.

“Sema’s incredible hair donation – over one metre in length - will be used to create the longest of our real-hair wigs, which are currently our most popular.

“Hair donations that are over 16 inches long are quite rare, so we really are absolutely thrilled to receive Sema’s beautiful long locks.

“Our wigs are provided, free of charge, to children and young people who are experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment or other conditions.

“Receiving a wig has a profoundly positive effect on the young people that we help.

“Thank you so much, Sema.”

A hairdresser from Wispers hairdressers in Wickham will be cutting Sema’s hair at the centre.
