RESIDENTS are being urged to take note of venue changes to a number of polling stations across the county ahead of the local elections.

Thousands of people in Southampton, Winchester, the New Forest, Test Valley and Eastleigh will head to the polls tomorrow.

But while some of them will go to their usual polling stations others are being warned of venue changes.

Voters in Fair Oak who used Wyvern College polling station should now go to the new offices of Fair Oak Parish Council in Knowle Park Lane.

Meanwhile, changes to polling stations in Southampton are: AC (Bargate) – Orchard Lane Hall moved to the Central Hall, St Mary Street; GD (Freemantle) – Elim Christian Centre moved to Freemantle Christ Church, Waterloo Road; IC (Millbrook) – Regents Park Community College moved to the Salvation Army Hall, Victor Street.

Two new polling stations are also set to be used by voters in the New Forest. These are The Victoria Rooms in Bridge Street, Fordingbridge, which will replace Fordingbridge Town Hall, and Lymington Sea Scouts Hall in King’s Saltern Road, which will replace All Saints Church polling station.

Changes will be in place across Test Valley where Broughton Sports Pavilion in Buckholt Road will be used instead of Broughton Village Hall and  there will be no portable building at Batchelor’s Barn Road, as residents will have to use the Pavilion at Sports Field instead.

The elections have the potential to shake up Winchester City Council due to the number of councillors stepping down in their wards, and two big-hitters going up against each other for one seat.

Test Valley Borough Council and New Forest District Council could also see a completely new set of councillors as both entire authorities are up for elections.

In Southampton a third of the council is up for elections, with 16 seats set to be fought for. Seats are also up for grabs in Eastleigh.
