THREE city songwriters will present a Titanic story in song later this month.
Brian Hooper, Jeff Henry and Barry Wake bring The Night The Ship Went Down to Hanger Farm Arts Centre in Totton on Friday May 10.
It’s a moving, entertaining, informative and respectful show in song, music and spoken word, which tells of the optimism surrounding the Titanic's arrival and departure from Southampton, the distress in the town after the sinking, and the treatment of the surviving crew - largely shunned by the White Star Line.
With just the three songwriters on stage, this is a more intimate and focussed version of a show performed by a cast of ten at numerous venues in 2011 and 2012, to mark the centenary of the Titanic’s voyage.
The evening starts with a set of songs on local topics, by the same performers.
The production proved a success at Nuffield Southampton Theatre's City Make It SO season and will visit other local venues in the coming year.
