A 'PAEDOPHILE-hunter' has been banned from video sharing website Youtube.

The decision was revealed on Southampton TRAP's Facebook page where they thanked followers for their continued support.

The group, which is run by 35-year-old Lordshill man Stephen Dure and uses sting operations against those allegedly trying to meet up with underage children, posted: "Stevie's YouTube channel has been shut down and he has now been banned from owning an account or even being on there."

However, they vowed: "There will be a TRAP website coming soon wo keep your eyes out for that and thank you all for your continued support!"

In message to Mr Dure, YouTube said: "After review we determined that activity in your account violated our Community Guidelines, which state that actions like predatory behaviour, stalking, threats, harassment, bullying or intimidation are not acceptable on our site.

"Please be aware that you are prohibited from accessing, possessing or creating any other YouTube accounts."

Mr Dure does have the option to appeal the suspension.

The ban comes around a month after Mr Dure has had his YouTube channel reinstated following a previous ban.

Speaking at the time, Mr Dure said: "I am happy that I've got it back as it helps me reach more people and exposure is key."

Stephen was also critical of YouTube and social media platforms in general.

He added: "These social media companies only about one thing, and that is money."

The group has not been without controversy. In September Mr Dure was jailed for 15 weeks for falsely accusing an Eastleigh man of grooming teenagers online.

Dure admitted a charge of sending a false message by electronic communication network to cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety.
