IT’S very worrying more than half a million children have not had their measles jabs.

This has created a situation where we could have a new measles epidemic. Most people recover from the illness with no lasting effects but, for a minority, it can turn into something very nasty indeed with very serious consequences and for some, even death.

My youngest child was born just after the anti-vaccination scare. I admit my wife and myself were worried about allowing our son to be immunised. We went and asked our doctor if he ever had any patients who suffered adverse reactions to children’s vaccinations. He assured us he had not. This reassured us and we went ahead with the jabs for my son.

I remember after he had his jabs we watched him like a hawk in case he had any adverse reactions. It is a fretful time for parents but they should get their children immunised.
