WITH the Premier League season still visible in our rear-view mirrors, we take a look at the climax twenty years ago.
Saints took on Everton at The Dell in a crunch game which could have determined whether they stayed in the Premier League for their 22nd successive season.
The date was May 16, 1999, when Latvian striker Marian Pahars slotted home a glorious brace to make the final score 2-0.
It was an unforgettable day of colour and celebration as the team took an early stranglehold on the game and never relinquished it to complete a great escape.
These pictures show the fans as they shook the stands.
