ORGANISERS of a D-Day 75 event in Hampshire have announced the full line-up of the community event to mark the day.

The event will take place on June 8 and June 9 and aircraft will be the focus at Solent Airport, which will feature aerial displays and static aircraft on the ground.

Residents will be treated to the world’s only wing walker display team, the AeroSuperBatics, and the Great War Display Team will fly replica World War One aircraft over Fareham.

Other aerial attractions that will be on offer include a spitfire, a Historic Army Aircraft Flight, a Heron, a Wasp, the Gazelle Squadron Display Team and a Fairchild Argus.

The RN Raiders Parachute Display Team will also perform on June 9.

Solent Airport was the busiest allied airfield in the UK on D-Day with more than 400 aircraft movements - the largest number from any UK airbase.

On the ground, there will be a display of static aircraft including an Islander, a Defender and a Moth. Other aircrafts on show will be a C42, a C182 Seaplane, a P51 Mustang and a Gazelle and Lynx from HMS Sultan, as well as a vintage car display.

Councillor Trevor Cartwright, who represents Warsash on Fareham Borough Council, said: "We’re really excited about the fantastic line-up for D-Day 75 and know it’s going to be a weekend which will be remembered for years to come.

"Tickets are selling fast so don’t leave it too late to get yours to be part of this exciting community event."

Visitors to the event will experience a host of stage and arena performances including the Big Noise Samba Band, the South Downs Musical Society and the Gosport Solent Brass. Other performers include the Team Green Rockets children’s motorcycle display team and the Hants and IOW Air Training Corps Wing Band.

Children will be able to enjoy activities such as fun fair rides, face painting and Lego building.

There will also be other stalls at the event, such as Bells Crafts and Boozy Bakers.

Tickets must be bought in advance online from Ferneham Hall at www.fernehamhall.co.uk and from the Control Tower at Solent Airport. A family ticket (two adults, two children) bought in advance is £25 for one day or £40 for the weekend and adult tickets are £8 each day.
