A MAN has been arrested after a motorcyclist died in a collision in Hampshire.

The 47-year-old from Gosport was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop and not reporting an accident.

The crash happened on the A27 Southampton Road at Titchfield where the Honda motorcycle was travelling on the eastbound carriageway when it went into the opposite carriageway and collided with a car.

A 40-year-old motorcyclist from Fareham was pronounced dead at the scene by Hampshire police after the crash happened near the Argos store before 6pm.

Now the Gosport man has been released from custody, but remains under investigation.

Hampshire police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and Sergeant Richard Grant said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or the circumstances leading up to it.

"In particular, we are keen to hear from a driver of a dark-coloured sports car that was seen driving in the same direction as the motorbike around the time of the collision.

"This person may hold vital information that could help our investigation."
