A LARGE group of travellers have set up camp in a Hampshire park.

The group, which has over ten caravans, have arrived on Greta Park recreation ground in Upper Northam Road, Hedge End.

A number of cars have also been spotted driving around the field and Hampshire police have said they are “working towards a swift resolution”.

Mitchell Tree, a 50-year-old plasterer from Hedge End, said: “The travellers have been here since Sunday when they came between two and three o’clock."

A spokesperson from Hampshire police said: “The local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out regular patrols of the area whilst the encampment is there.

“Please do not call to report that travellers are in the area, unless they have moved location, but continue to report all antisocial behaviour, crime and vehicle nuisance to police on 101.”

Eastleigh Borough Council has been contacted for comment.
