HUNDREDS of Hampshire residents gathered to commemorate the 75th D-Day anniversary this weekend.
Lepe Country Park in Exbury hosted a history festival which featured a remembrance service yesterday, as well as a parade and big band, exhibitions and period music.
The event also featured a theatre show, face painting and guided walks for residents to enjoy.
Rob Humby, who represents Bishops Waltham on Hampshire County Council, said: "Lepe played a really important role in the D-Day landings as there was a lot of equipment here and I think nearly 180 million gallons of fuel was sent by a pipeline under the ocean from Lepe beach to the forces, so it was a key site during the war."
He added: "I have come to remember those who gave up their lives and it was great to see so many people turn up."
