A MAN has died following a crash on the A303.

Now Wiltshire Police are appealing for information, following the incident which closed the road for more than four hours yesterday.

Officers say they were called by a lorry driver shortly after 3.30pm to report a vehicle located down a steep bank, just off the westbound carriageway of the A303, before the junction with Solstice Park.

Emergency services attended and discovered a white Vauxhall Corsa.

The driver, a man in his 50s, was sadly declared dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this sad time.

The westbound carriageway of the A303 was closed while investigation work took place but reopened at around 8.45pm.

PC Pete Williamson, from Wiltshire Police's Collision Investigation Unit, has appealed for anyone with information to call police.

He said: "At this stage we do not know what caused the car to leave the road, and we are not clear exactly when the collision happened, although we do believe it happened at some point today (June 4).

"We want to hear from anyone who may have any information which could help us understand what happened.

"Perhaps you saw something which at the time didn't cause any concern, but now seems suspicious or could assist our investigation."

Anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting log 193 of June 4.
