A MAN was rushed to hospital after suffering a serious head injury in an alleyway assault.
Police say the 39-year-old man suffered the injury in the incident, which took place in an alleyway near Archers Road in Southampton.
The alleyway, which links James Weld Close to Carlton Road, was sealed-off by police this morning.
A forensic officer was seen searching a bush in the alleyway behind the police cordon.
Officers say they were called to the scene around 8.50pm last night (June 6).
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "A 39-year-old man was found to have suffered a serious head injury and transported to hospital.
"His injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening."
Police say two men, a 49-year-old and a 29-year-old, both from Winchester, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
They remain in police custody at this time.
Officers remain in the area today carrying out enquiries.
