In light of the recent lesbiphobic attacks against two members of the LGBTQ+ play Rotterdamn this week, Southampton and Romsey Labour party would like to send our solidarity and support to Rebecca Bantavla, Lucy Jane Parkinson, the cast and production team of Rotterdamn and the LGBTQ+ community as a whole.
We are aware that homophobic, lesbiphobic, biphobic and transphobic hate crimes are far more frequent than the media portrays.
Offensive and despicable behaviour like this is not welcome anywhere and we will stand alongside the LGBTQ+ community in the fight to end ignorance and hate.
The fight for equality is far from over and while we celebrate pride month our support and solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community does not end at the start of July, it is constant until the battle is won.
Thank You,
Sarah Walsh
Alan Fraser, Chair Southampton and Romsey Labour Party
