POOLE became a sea of pink today as thousands took part in the annual Race for Life.

Runners tackled the five and 10km distances in a bid to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK.

This year, for the first time ever, the event was open to men.

An event organiser said: "Cancer doesn’t care who you are, so we wanted to make sure that everyone could join the Race for Life movement.

"Our participants come from different backgrounds, with different stories, but with one thing in common - the determination to help beat cancer."
