A CARE worker found guilty of assaulting his disabled client has had his conviction overturned.

Theodore Goodridge, 23, of Peel Close, Romsey, had been accused of a “sustained assault “ on a client with Down’s syndrome. But he appealed to the Crown Court, which quashed the conviction made by Southampton Magistrates in February.

The Daily Echo wishes to clarify the wording in our report of the original trial to emphasise that Mr Goodridge has always denied the offence and he pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charge against him.

When, during mitigation at sentencing, Mr Goodridge’s solicitor referred to the defendant as having “lost his cool”, we have been asked to point out that he had been quoting but not endorsing the prosecution’s case.

We are happy to set the record straight.
