A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a 30-year-old woman.

Police were called shortly after 5.30am on Sunday following the death of a woman, from Andover, at an address in Suffolk Road.

The woman’s next-of-kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

A 28-year-old man from the Andover area has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody.

Detectives are now appealing for information as part of an investigation into the murder.

Detective Chief Inspector John McGonigle said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries so you will see a significant policing presence in the community.

“We understand that this news will be very upsetting for those living in the area, but I would like to reassure you that our officers are in the area conducting searches, carrying out house-to-house enquiries and following several lines of enquiry."
