With Winchester City Council drafting a new homelessness strategy, we asked people what they would do to improve homelessness.

Rick Tarrant, 65, a retired city council worker from North Baddesley, said: "The government are probably not doing enough. It's all to do with the economics, so I'd put more money into rehoming the people who have fallen into austerity."

Sam Davis, 63, a teacher from of Winchester, said: "I feel there's not enough interest, not enough compassion from people. It's happening everywhere, so I would try and make people take more interest, so they would be in the right mind to help others."

Jamie Horn, 40, a quantity surveyor from Winchester, said: "Well the Tories are too busy fighting over Brexit to focus on huge issues like homelessness. So until they're finished, I doubt much can be done, which is a horrible thought."

Diane Wilson, 83, a retired driver from Compton, said: "Homeless people can't get jobs without an address. So I would do my best to get them accommodation, then help them get jobs. If only it was that easy."
