A MAN who failed to provide a breath test to police and assaulted an officer has been jailed.
Daniel John Grimes, 30, assaulted the officer at Rownhams Services, on the M27, on May 3.
Then, on May 4, he failed to complete a breath test, having been suspected of having driven a vehicle.
Grimes, of Hadfield Road, Stanwell, Staines, pleaded guilty to both charges.
He was jailed for eight weeks at Southampton Magistrates' Court.
Magistrates jailed Grimes because he failed to co-operate on "a number of occasions" and because of his "high level of impairment".
Grimes was also disqualified from driving for nearly 30 months and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
