AN 11-YEAR-OLD suffered a fractured cheek when he was attacked in a Southampton park.

The schoolboy was assaulted in the park in Leaside Way next to St Georges School, said Hampshire police.

Officer say the incident happened between 4.40pm and 4.55pm on June 23.

The young victim was approached by a teenager who assaulted him before running off, say officers.

Hampshire Police have now issued an appeal for witnesses to the attack.

They also want to question a boy who has been described as: Asian, aged between 12 and 14-years-old, about five feet two inches tall, of slim build with short black hair.

He was wearing grey shorts, grey T-shirt and black trainers.

In a statement Hampshire Police said: "Officers investigating the assault would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or recognises the description of the boy we have described, particularly if they saw someone running away from the park around this time on Sunday.

"Please call 101 and quote 44190216415."
