THE sun is set to shine this weekend for Romsey’s biggest comedy event.

Giggles in the garden is set to get crowds laughing at Sir Harold Hiller Gardens laughing this Saturday.

Organisers, the House of Comedy anticipate more than 600 people to attend.

Luke Geddis from The House of Comedy said: “With the weather heading in the right direction, with the current forecast set to exceed 25 degrees on Saturday it’s making the perfect backdrop for Romsey’s biggest ever comedy event.

“We are anticipating 6-700 guests, though we hope this will be exceeded.

“Firmly planting Giggles on the map and possibly a regular feature of the Hilliers calendar.

“We would advise booking tickets online to save disappointment however there may be tickets that can be bought on the day.”

Simon Brodkin, who is well known for performing the comedy character Lee Nelson will take to the stage alongside Tanyalee Davis of Live at the Apollo, Craig Campbell of Russell Howards Good News, Geoff Norcott of Live at the Apollo and Mash Report, Orlando Baxter coming from Boston USA of Conan fame and the BBC, Ignacio Lopez of BBC sesh (Cardiff) and award winning circuit comedians Graham Wilkes along with local Elle Bert.

The gates are set to open at 6.30pm and the show will commence at 7.30pm.

The show will finsih at 10pm however organises say it may overrun.

You must be over 16 to attend and under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult.

The House of Comedy officially launched in the town in 2017 at The Plaza Theatre and the event is set to be the biggest of its kind in the market town.

A Hampshire County Council spokesperson said: “The upcoming Giggles in the Garden event at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens on 29 June offers visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy high quality comedy performances against the tranquil, picturesque setting of the gardens. The event is primarily aimed at adults and promises to be fun and memorable.”

Luke added: The Gardens looked at the idea and between us we started drawing up plans to put Giggles together and here we are.

“Luke added:“We are proud of our lineup, all of which had agreed virtually straight away to come and be part of something new in Romsey!”

The House of Comedy took to social media in the run up to the show.

On Facebook the group posted: “Bring your gazebos, your chairs, picnics, blankets booze and soft drinks, we will bring our ‘A’ game for a hilarious show.”
