A LONG stretch of the A31 westbound through the New Forest is to shut overnight throughout much of July.
Between Monday, July 8 and Wednesday, July 24, there will be closures at night from junction two of the M27 to Ringwood.
The closures will be in force between 9pm and 6am, Monday to Friday only.
A signed diversion will be in place from junction two. It will take motorists north on the A36 to Salisbury, then south on the A338 to join the A31 at the Ringwood interchange.
Officials say closures are necessary to allow engineers from Kier Highways, on behalf of Highways England, to resurface a section of the westbound carriageway on the approach to Picket Post.
A spokesperson from Highways England said: "Works are, as always, subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
"Any questions should be directed to Highways England on 0300 123 5000 or via info@highwaysengland.co.uk"
