RAILWAY lines are blocked between Poole and Brockenhurst this evening after a person was hit by a train at Bournemouth train station.

Emergency services are dealing with the incident, and train services are being cancelled or rescheduled.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Witnesses say a fire engine, two ambulances and a number of police vehicles are at the scene.

A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: "We have received reports that a person has been struck by a train between Poole and Brockenhurst.

"Our response teams are working with the emergency services to assist with the incident.

"In order to allow emergency services access to the railway, all power to the track will need to be switched off in the affected area.

"We are in the process of arranging replacement road transport between Poole and Brockenhurst / Southampton Central.
