HAMPSHIRE youngsters have raised more than £3,500 by holding their very own fashion show to fund specialist treatment for a girl with an inoperable brain tumour.

Last month, the Leavey family from Hedge End, received the devastating news that 10-year-old Brooke has a tumour on her brain stem.

Since then she has been receiving treatment at Southampton General Hospital and has now started a six-week intensive course of treatment to shrink the tumour at University College London Hospital.

On Sunday, as part of the fundraising efforts for Brooke, a children’s fashion show was held at Next in Hedge End.

Local friends and school friends took part in the show which saw over 300 people coming to support.

Children aged from one to 14-years-old took to the catwalk strutting the latest Next summer collection.

None of the children have had any modelling experience they did it to support their friend.

Wave 105’s Rick Jackson acted as master of ceremonies of the event and dance troop ALPHA from Intagr8 dance in Winchester entertained the crowd in the break.

Donations on the door, raffle tickets and drinks sales on the day helped to raise over £3,500.

Brooke's next phase of treatment is yet to be determined, but there lies hope that she may benefit from a pioneering form of treatment not currently available on the NHS. I

It is thought that the family need in the region of £150,000 to fund the treatment and travel overseas for it.

Helen Schwodler, a family friend who organised the fashion event, said “We are continually overwhelmed by the support of the local community, many of whom are complete strangers to the family, but who find themselves wanting to help Brooke. The fashion show was a fantastic example of how people have come together to support the family and raise funds for Brooke. It’s not just the money donated at the event, it’s the time people gave to help on the night and the skills they offered. A massive thank you to Next who hosted the event, to Rick Jackson for his time and to Barry Swainsbury our amazing photographer on the night and obviously to everyone who came along and supported the event. We can’t thank you enough.”
