A SOUTHAMPTON hospital is celebrating being given top marks by patients in a national survey.

Around 1288 patients were polled about their experiences at Southampton NHS Treatment Centre, Brintons Terrace, as part of the national Friends and Family Test in June.

All providers of health care are required to carry out the Friends and Family Test as part of the NHS’ commitment to improving the patient experience.

The basis of the questionnaire is "how likely would you be to recommend this service to your friends and family?"

All of the patients questioned said they would recommend Southampton NHS Treatment Centre’s services in adult ophthalmology, outpatients, the inpatient ward and physiotherapy.

Overall, the hospital achieved a score of 96.8 percent.

Joy Simpson, a resident from Southampton, said: "The care and attention by the staff is amazing. I am always recommending The Treatment Centre."

Anne Richardson, head of Nursing and Clinical Services at Southampton NHS Treatment Centre, said: "Our thanks go to all our patients who took the time to complete the Friends and Family Test survey, and for their top marks and kind comments.

"Thanks also go to our clinical and support teams. Patients and their care sit at the heart of everything we do, and it is very heartening for us to receive accolades such as this – they show we are getting it right."

Southampton NHS Treatment Centre is the only hospital in Hampshire to be rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission and since opening ten years ago it has cared for thousands of patients.

This includes providing care in general surgery, such as hernia repair, gall bladder removal and dental surgery.

Other servies include ENT surgery, endoscopy, eye surgery and foot and ankle surgery.
