RAILWAY lines between Poole and Brockenhurst were blocked after a person was reportedly hit by a train on Monday evening.

Emergency services were called to Pokesdown railway station.

Train services between Poole and Brockenhurst were cancelled, delayed or revised, South Western Railway said.

The  railway lines have now reopened.

A SWR spokesperson said earlier this evening: "In order to allow emergency services access to the railway all power to the track will need to be switched off in the affected area, and no trains can pass through.

"The branch from Brockenhurst to Lymington Pier is also currently suspended.

"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."

They added: "If you or someone close to you has been affected by this incident or other, there is always someone to talk to. Contact the Samaritans on 116 123 free at any time, on any phone. Help and advice is only a phone call away. South Western Railway work closely with the Samaritans and support the brilliant work that they do."
