A DRINK-driver caught twice in the same month - once nearly four times the limit - has been given a suspended sentence.

Manpreet Nicholas Singh, 38, was caught drink-driving in Lodge Road, Portswood, on April 12.

He had 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes of alcohol.

Singh was also caught drink-driving in Southampton on April 27.

On that occasion, he had 133 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – nearly four times the legal limit.

Singh admitted two counts of drink-driving.

He also pleaded guilty to verbally abusing two police officers in Southampton on May 1, two counts of driving without insurance and a count of taking a car without consent.

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, Singh, of Vulcan Road, Southampton, was given a six month prison sentence, which was suspended for 18 months.

Singh was also ordered to pay compensation totalling £400 to the officers, as well as a court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £115.
