A MAN has been stabbed during a robbery on a Southampton road.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 28-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder and attacked by a man who stole his bag.

The victim was stabbed in the right shoulder by what is believed to have been a small knife.

He was also punched in the head, causing him to fall to the ground, where he was repeatedly punched and kicked.

The victim was walking down Northumberland Road in Northam just before 11pm on July 13 when he was assaulted by a man who had stopped to talk to him.

The man stole the victim's bag which contained a pair of trainers, a white designer jacket, a passport, a mobile phone and cash.

The man has been described as; white; between the age of 30 and 40-years-old; around5 ft10-12ins tall; of large build; short dark hair; possibly a beard; and spoke with a local accent.

He was also described as wearing dark blue jeans, a black t-shirt Nike Air Max trainers.

Police are looking to speak to anyone to anyone who mayhave seen the incident or have private CCTV or dash cam footage.
